Murder cases without corpses are problematic to prosecute. As the prosecutor, you are going to have to assemble a mountain of other evidence to surmount a missing body. Add to that a missing weapon and no ascertainable crime scene and one has a prosecutorial nightmare. If you are the defendant, you have a big advantage with all of this missing. Forensic investigators agree that the body is the most essential piece of evidence in a crime scene. So if the accused has eliminated the body, the murder case is very problematic. But it is not a requirement for a murder trial that the prosecutor produce the body or a murder weapon. Those are pieces of evidence, not the requisites of a prima facie case of murder. The following cases are discussed in this legal powerpoint presentation: the Camden Wonder, Natasha Ryan and serial killer Leonard Fraser, Robert Bierenbaum, Thomas Capano, Chandra Levy, Natalee Holloway and Joran van der Sloot. This presentation was created by an attorney who taught law on the community college level.

Hello Carol,

I am from Sydney, Australia. I am currently undertaking research on 2,000+ "no body" murder trials from around the world, dating from the 5th century BC to the very present day.

I am interested in obtaining a copy of your Powerpoint presentation on "Murder Cases Without A Body" but I am unable to buy it online as I do not use a credit card for online purchases.

Is there a way I can buy it by paying through a bank cheque?

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Grades Taught:
Subject Area:

a teacher my whole adult life, especially at the community college level in legal and property related topics. I am primarily a self taught artist, with my work exhibited in museums and galleries. It has sold internationally. I began adding my art work into my teaching as time went on, even handing it out as rewards for students who did well. I also used it extensively in my presentations. My students range at the community college included people who barely had high school skills to those who already had their degrees. Thus, I include both higher education and the lower grades in most of my materials. Straight out of college, I did teach fifth grade language arts for two years but well. In recent years I have moved into continuing education as well.
