Students in my class LOVE using interactive books! I have taught professional development workshops in my county on using these books in the primary classroom! Interactive books are books that encourage children to participate in the story. Children will manipulate story pieces while reading and singing the text. As children read and reread these stories, they practice skills such as: concepts about print, sight words, rhyme, repetition, phonemic awareness, and learn curriculum content as well. Interactive book text can be introduced by writing the text on chart paper to use for Shared Reading. Once students are familiar with the vocabulary and tune, the book can be introduced whole group and then placed at a center or in the classroom library for reading enjoyment all throughout the year.

I have made many of your interactive books. They are all great but this may be the cutest one. My kindergarten students love it and it ties in with our gingerbread theme this week nicely.
