My students like to have options when working on a book project, so I created the 100 points project. It has small to large assignments that students can complete while reading their novel and earn up to 100 points (I offer 120 with extra credit). I grade things as they come in and students know where they sit in order to get the grade they want. Most of the activities are simple variations on other projects that I have used in the past or seen others do, but I have complied them and given them different point values. Recently I had my students pick from the smaller end only as reading log activities while they were reading their independent work. I was able to have simple check in points for converstation starters during reading conferences in my workshop setting. *Part 1 letter D has been fixed to say good instead of goof in the download. I am in the middle of my 10th year teaching middle school. I currently teach in a Middle School in Glendale Heights, Illinois. I have worked with students from all ability levels and ethnic backgrounds. For the last 2 years I have been working with 8th graders only teaching English and Social Studies. During my teaching I have worked with many different styles of teaching and had my schedule for teaching change often. Currently I teach 4 hour long classes and 2 half hour classes (one a study hall and one a book club for reading) I also direct the school plays and musicals having put up successful productions of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Krazy Kamp and This is a Test. I also lead the Drama Club in fun Improv games and drama exercises each week. Last school year the students performed a play I wrote for them.
