A NEW 100 POINTS PROJECT!
My students enjoy having choices in their assignments. When doing a book project I like to give them just that. The 100 points project allows atudents to select activites from different point ctaegories in order to earn 100 points. The activities cover the different elements of a novel including: setting, plot, character, theme, connections, and predictions. This new project includes 3 activities from the orignal - based on my student's requests, but all 18 others are new to this version. This project also includes 4 new worksheets that accompany different activities. All of the assignments are based on things I do in my classroom or have seen done, but put together as one project.(Many people have enjoyed my first 100 points project, including my students who asked me to create a second one to use at a different time in the year.)
My grade 7 students were really excited and eager to get started on this project. Only confusion is about how it would take to get 100 points. One term (3 months?)

I have used this in a few ways...when my students do independent reading they would have about a month to complte these tasks all using the same book. OR last spring I had them complete the tasks with several books over the course of the 12 week term...it is totally up to you. One of my co workers has student complete 1 5-10 point task every other week 1 30-40 point task every month. hope that helps

My students love this! So do I it provides a wonderful outlet for the students to make their own decisions about learning and allows them to shine using their preferred learning style

This is great for book projects. I am going to use it in 6th grade.

Help
I am in the middle of my 10th year teaching middle school. I currently teach in a Middle School in Glendale Heights, Illinois. I have worked with students from all ability levels and ethnic backgrounds. For the last 2 years I have been working with 8th graders only teaching English and Social Studies. During my teaching I have worked with many different styles of teaching and had my schedule for teaching change often. Currently I teach 4 hour long classes and 2 half hour classes (one a study hall and one a book club for reading) I also direct the school plays and musicals having put up successful productions of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Krazy Kamp and This is a Test. I also lead the Drama Club in fun Improv games and drama exercises each week. Last school year the students performed a play I wrote for them.
