This is a Recommended Curriculum and Pacing Guide for 11th grade Language Arts based on the Common Core Standards. It includes areas of curriculum and suggestions for each, such as vocabulary, grammar, American Literature classics, non-fiction, etc. Also included is a recommended pacing guide divided into four nine-week chunks. Note: you are a SUPER teacher if you can actually pull off teaching everything in this guide! But this serves as a good goal and way of organizing an 11th grade language arts classroom, although it could easily be adapted to a grade higher or lower. It also gives a list of suggested authors that be taught in American Literature and a when-all-else-fails and time runs short list of "must teach" authors. This would be a great starting place for a new teacher or for a veteran teacher whose state has recently adopted the Common Core Standards.

Hi! I found you by googling English III lesson plans using the common core standards. I am starting my second year teaching an Eng III Resource class. My first year I just googled my lesson plans because my students were on a much lower reading/comp level than a typical 11th grader. We are doing the pilot common core standards in our county and will implement full scale next year. I have a scope and sequence from my county using the new Holt McDougal Elements of Literature. I am trying to find lessons that will supplement this or be easier to teach to special ed students in 11th grade. What types of lessons do you offer in your guide? Thanks!
I am wondering if there is a chart that comes with the actual product in a sort of calendar format in addition to your explanation like from the preview download. Or if you could explain a little further as to what this guide provides. I teach 11th grade in TN, and next we are going to CCS.
I have fiftenn years of teaching experience in a small town, rural school district. I have taught freshmen, sophomores, juniors, honors sophomores and honors juniors.
