I call this the "kid version" because they have been reworded into "I Can" statements from Common Core standards. All standards and sub-standards in ELA and Math are included.
These are full page size for easier viewing {per request}. Simply print {could also have printed at office supply store} and hang in your classroom with magnets on the board, in page protectors, or create a bulletin board display using the headers I have provided!
See the preview for full size previews.
Includes full color graphics with chevron/polka dot patterns.
*updated 8/8/12 please redownload
*8/19 added NC essential standards from Science and SS
*9/1 added ELA header
*11/24 added editable powerpoint for your own ss and science standards
This is exactly what I was looking for! Told my fellow 2nd grade teachers to purchase this too!! It is AWESOME!

This is my first year teaching and I got hired after the school year started so I needed something quickly to use in my classroom that was student friendly, student appropriate, and aligned with the common core. This accomplished all three! Wonderful product.
These are great! It helped me so much with all that is new to us this year with Common Core. Having the standards ready to print and post helped take some of the burden off. One of the science standards is missing from life cycles 2.L.2. Thanks to Rachel for doing these and sharing!

I have really appreciated having these, thank you! I feel guilty even asking, but in the editable PPT documents, would you be willing to share the orange bubbles for science as well? Thanks again!
I wold really like a checklist for the students to use. The can keep it in their desk (a kid friendly, I can statement checklist for their desk or for in their assessment binder.
Would you be willing to create this?
At this time, I do not have time. I am sure there are some free ones on TpT I've seen!

Thanks for the response. I purchased the Kid Friendly full page standards and am really excited and appreciative for your work on these! I have a question. I don't see a page for 2.L.2.1 or 2.L.2.2 Essential Standards under science which go with the Life Cycles unit.
I need to add those. I must've missed them! I'll update tonight thanks!

Hi Rachel. I found your Common Core posters and you have made my day. I am a new teacher and just finished writing out all standards for NC Standard Course of Study last summer and now have to throw them away. I am so excited to have this resource! I am wondering what the difference between the $10 file and the individual $6 files is. Does the $10 one have kid friendly language and teacher language both? Does it have both the half size and full size posters? Thanks again!
the $10 one has a few options for themes and you post the half size standards on top of the themed subject headings. The are only in the exact wording. The $6 ones only have one option. But I have full page size and half page size options with those. I personally use the half size kid friendly ones.
hope that helps!
Hi!
Does this packet also contain the essential questions? I would like to have both the "I Can" statements, and the Essential Questions, in the same format. Thanks so much!
I do not have to have eq's do I did not create any. Sorry.

I am so excited about your item I purchased but so many of them are showing huge black rectanles in them and some are not showing the words that it shows in your samples. What do I need to do? Thanks
You most likely need to update your adobe. If you are on a mac, you need to open the doc rather than open in preview

Hey Rachel,
Is there anyway you could change the format of the common core "I Can" statements for me? I'm not sure if i'll have enough board space to list each subject area. I have really liked how Deanna Jump has included the subject on the same page as the statement for her k-1 set. Just curious! If not, how do you display the statements? My state just adopted common core so this is all new to me! Thanks
I have 2 half size page options. One like Deanna's and another in this style but half the size. Let me know and I'll email it to you. Rachel.lamb81@gmail.com

Hi Rachel,
I have purchased this packet and am looking forward to using it. I just found Essential Standards for SS and Science in your Common Core Standards Packet. I think it contains what I need for 2nd grade to complete 'I Can' statements but the formatting of the two is different. I like the dashed line around each statement from Kid Friendly. Any chance you might be adding SS/Science in Kid Friendly? I know you would like to enjoy a bit of summer. Common Core brings lots of excitement but an equal amount of work. Love that I have been able to purchase quality resources at an affordable price. Have a great day!
