These student data binders are an easy to implement student data tracking system.
With these binders, your students will monitor their own growth and progress, using standards based assessments (also found in my store), rate and date their learning using Marzano's Levels of Thinking/Understanding, and students will keep track of "I can" statements or learning targets as they progress through the Common Core Standards.
Included in this data tracking binder:
-"I can" statements checklist (written in kid language) that aligns to ALL 2nd Grade Math Common Core Standards
Example of "I can" statements include:
-I can read and write number names up to 1,000
-I can show numbers to 1,000 in expanded form.
-"I can" statements data table with two sections for students to rate and date their learning, and a section to document their percentage/score on final assessment.
-Pre and Post-Assessment graphs with standards aligned and listed on graph for easy tracking (assessments sold separately)

How do you personally keep record of your student's data? At my school we have to keep a "teacher data notebook" to show most of the same things that are in your student's notebooks. It gets difficult trying to keep up with all that data in one place for 20 some students! I have tried the standard grade book sheets, but it does not give room for documenting everything or making student specific notes. It's almost like I need to have a standard grade sheet for "my quick glances"/calculating class average scores and a more detailed data sheet per student. That's so much doubling up on work though. Hope my question makes sense!

Hello! Sorry it took me a second to get back to you, I don't know how I missed your question! Your question does make sense, and you're right it seems like you're having to do double the work. I think it's very important to continue to allow your students to track their own data, but if you're also required to have similar data, the only things I can think of are: make copies of important pages of student's binders for your reference, in the past I have used a spiral notebook with tabbed #'s for each student and I will have the students open their binders to a particular page and quickly jot down notes as I look over their shoulders at their binders, you could treat them like writing notebooks and have 5 students that you meet with each day to go over data, write notes for your records, etc. I would be more than happy to make something for you, but it may not be done until after school gets out! I don't think you're alone in this, I think there are a lot of teachers struggling with their own data collection. I will think about how I want to go about this and perhaps create something/blog about it soon! I hope I could help just a little bit! Thanks so much for your question! Take care!

If you are having trouble, try this: if you are a Mac user, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader X. If doing that doesn't work, try these options:
-If you're a Mac user, switch browsers (if you're currently using Firefox, try using Internet Explorer or Safari).
-Make sure you check Adobe under "open with" to verify that that Adobe is the program you're using to open the document and not "preview".
-Try opening the document from an entirely different computer (open directly from TpT)
Please let me know if any of these option help and, if they don't, you'll have to contact TpT for additional help, they are pretty awesome at helping customers out! Yes! I always use the same assessment for pre and post. It would be tough to use an assessment for data purposes if it were two different assessments, in my opinion. Kinda' like comparing apples to oranges?! I ALWAYS use the same assessment for a pre and post in order to accurately show growth and/or my teaching. No, one assessment. Hello- The data tracking binder pack does not include assessments. The data tracking binder comes with the student language "I can" statement checklist, the same checklist in a table format with rate your learning sections and test score sections, pre/post test graphs and the 4 levels of understanding rubrics and posters.
There will be 4 individual assessments for each of the 4 domains for 2nd grade. I am hoping all 4 assessments will be complete by this weekend! Currently I have Numbers and Operations and Algebra posted. I will then bundle all of them together.Thanks!

Hi Brittany- I imagine they would be?! Both the math and ELA tracking binders include common core "I can" statements for all standards in both a checklist form and a "table" form for students to track their learning. There are also graphs for students to keep track of their assessment scores. I am currently working on the assessments for 2nd grade math which will include a ton of assessment questions for each individual standard to go with the tracking binder. I hope this helps!
