Isn't it tough teaching 4th grade math standards when your students don't know basic multiplication facts? In order to help my students memorize their facts during the first part of the year, I created a Multiplication Master incentive program. Each student receives a multiplication sign/chart with their name on it that is hung up somewhere in the classroom. As they pass each level, a sticker is added to their chart. Once they have passed every level three times (or once depending on how you set up the program), they earn some type of reward. Once they whole class earns all of their stickers, they receive a class reward. This encourages them to help others that may have a harder time with memorization. Although zeroes are easy, I include them on the chart so those students who struggle at first will still have some stickers on their chart. This program has always helped my students learn their facts and makes teaching 4th grade math standards MUCH easier!
