This is an end of the unit test for fourth grade chemistry and matter. It is 16 questions (plus a couple of extra credit opportunities) that are mostly short answer response. The following academic standards are assessed:
Explain that matter has different states (e.g. solid, liquid and gas) and that each state has distinct physical properties
Investigate that the mass of a material remains constant whether it is together, in parts, or in a different state
Evaluate evidence that matter is made up of tiny particles called atoms, and different arrangements of atoms into groups compose all substances.
Identify characteristics of a simple physical change (e.g. heating or cooling can change water from one state to another and the change is reversible)
Investigate how water changes from one state to another (e.g. freezing, melting, condensation and evaporation)
Identify characteristics of a simple chemical change.
