5 Object FUTUR SIMPLE Oral Presentation

My name is Donatella Sorensen and I have created a meaningful, fun assignment that allows students to demonstrate how they are able to use the futur simple in an oral presentation. Students will work in pairs but may be graded individually according to the rubric attached at the end of this file. Students will brainstorm a place to where they would like to travel in time. They will then list the place and the year and come up with 5 objects that they would bring with them and why. The assignment starts of with a space where students list their objects and why they chose these particular objects. Next, my assignment provides a template where students will fill in the blanks using regular/irregular verbs in the futur simple. They will also need to fill in information such as their chosen place, their objects and why they chose what they did. This gives students a guideline so that they are not left frustrated having to write their presentation from scratch (given that this is an oral assessment). When the template has been completed and corrections have been made, students should transfer their work onto cue cards. On the day of the presentation, they will bring in their 5 objects and 1 souvenir (or a representation of these) and point out the objects at appropriate times during their presentation. The rubric is easy to follow and allows teachers to check off items from a feedback list to facilitate evaluating on the day of the presentation. I have used this assignment successfully in my own grade 9 classes. Try it! I hope you enjoy!
