Louisiana has just adopted the common core curriculum.
This document compares common core curriculum writing standards to grade level expectations for 5th grade.
The first column gives the CCSS (common core state standard)number from CCSS W.5.1 to W.5.10.
The second column explains each CCSS.
The third column tells when Louisiana is transitioning to that particular standard.
The fourth column gives the matching GLE (grade level expectation) that Louisiana is currently using, and will be transitioning from.
Yellow highlighted parts show content to be added for alignment to CCSS.
Green highlighted parts show content that will remain the same through the transition years.

I taught Kindergarten for a year while earning my education certification (my bachelors is actually in anthropology). For student teaching I taught 1st grade. I'm currently in a 3-5 school (upper elementary), and I've taught 4th grade for 2 years, as well as Writing Intervention for 1 year, and that is what I'll be teaching this upcoming year.
