This is a great addition to any unit on Black History. This unit contains great activities that features some well known figures during this era, as well as those who are lesser known. Included is a wonderful mobile that students will create on Martin Luther King, Jr., an activity that begins by learning more about Sarah Breedlove Walker, otherwise known as Madame C.J. Walker, an original story, and it also contains more writing activities on story elements. The books that were used in this packet include "Martin's Big Words", "A Taste of Colored Water", and "The Skin You Live In".

Great activities. Especially good if you are really heavy on graphic organizers at this point in the year. I picked and chose some activities and developed others to go a slightly different direction. But it's a great inspiration for Black History Month plans.

This is my fifth year of teaching! Wow, time flies when you're having fun! I was named my school's teacher of the year for the 2012-2013 school year. This is my second year teaching Kindergarten, and I taught 1st grade for three years. I love teaching, and if I couldn't do it I think that I would really be lost in this world!!
