This is a set of 4 activity sheets to accompany the Phonics Library story "A Park for Parkdale" from the Houghton Mifflin® reading program. New! Revised in Feb. 2011 to include writing skills as tested on state tests and benchmark tests! These are great activities for independent work during universal access time. The sheets for this story cover the following skills: writing skills, synonyms/antonyms, personal connections, syllables, nouns, verbs, and adjectives, subject/predicate, contractions, compound words, sentence types, punctuation and quotation marks, sequencing, ABC order, -ed sounds, characters, setting, problem, and solution, generalizations and details, fact/opinion, author's purpose, verb tense, proper nouns, and r-controlled vowels. In my classroom, the children complete these during independent work time, then we check answers together. They love doing them!
