Thanks so much for the feedback. We had a lot of fun with them this year. I made folders for each child with all of the chants and poems in April and they chanted and read during Read to Self and Buddy Reading daily. It was well worth it!

I brought in all of my chants today and there was such a buzz around my binder easel with kids trying to figure out the new ones and chanting and trying to make up hand signals. I almost told them to stop but I decided to just listen. When it was calendar time they wanted to do them all!

I have taught Kindergarten for 12 years. Originally, I went to school to be a Science teacher. I had always worked with young children in some capacity and thought a change would be good. As I worked my way through school, I had several odd jobs. One job required me to go to a Kindergarten Conference. I didn't want to go at all! Interestingly enough, on day one of the conference I met Clifford the Big Red dog. It reminded me of the Clifford my dad gave me when I was four. And you can pretty much say the rest is history. I graduated with a degree in Science and took my first job as a Kindergarten teacher and I have never looked back since.
