This is a delightful 92 pg book with original animal images which was created in 1850. The original work stated that there are “No words in the English Language beginning with X” – does this tell me that the xylophone was invented much later? Zoommm off I go to do some research!!
What I have done is Used both the Capital and Lower Case letter on either side of the graphic,
with the word of the animal below the graphic.
At the end of the Animal Alphabet I have created pages from A to Z so that younger learners can test their own general knowledge from everyday things they learn about animals around us and in the wild. Certainly a lot more is known now than in 1850. :)
This simple book is designed to give your child the opportunity to show off his or her
knowledge, drawing skills or even cutting and pasting. All of these activities work towards
developing fine motor skills in young children and word/picture recognition – all essential for a growing child.
The Illustrated pages of the Alphabet can also be printed on to card stock and laminated for
protection, cut out and used as flash cards to help with word/picture recognition and also to assist the child in familiarising himself or herself with both Upper and Lower Case letters.
Your child will benefit with parent/educator interaction doing the fun exercises and “research” on the activity pages.
Comprehensive Lesson Plans & Ideas are included that address the following:
Your child will
• Recite the alphabet and identify the sounds each letter makes.
• Understand that printed letters represent spoken language.
• Identify the names of animals that begin with particular letter sounds and draw pictures to represent these living creatures.
Please enjoy!

No formal Teacher Training, I work in social media, am a webmaster with a number of websites and blogs, and have a background and extensive experience in criminal and civil law, which I have recently returned to after a 5 year absence. I am a homeschooling mom who opted for homeschooling as a result of circumstances in our country. I have not looked back. I have attended many online courses to assist me in my educational journey. My materials are utilized through countries of Africa as an alternative to formal educational publications which are prohibitively expensive! I am fond of compiling unit studies and thematic units which I am able to adapt and use for each of the three children, now 6, 11 and 13 respectively. I make extensive use of public domain resources and include references to reputable websites for extension exercises and lesson plans. I am a published author.
