Give your elementary students an opportunity to understand terms and phrases important related to animals--especially ones they don't read or see on a regular basis. This A-Z book is a great contextualized way to teach the Common Core reading and language standards of unknown words and phrases as well as concrete and abstract nouns, and especially the research piece in the reading standards. For each page, there is space to create a picture and student friendly definition for each letter of the alphabet. Finished books are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, and require not cutting for assembly, just folding and stapling (directions included). Use whole class, small group, cooperative group, in a center, as homework or extra credit...it's up to you! The differentiated possibilities are endless!
Words in the Animals A-Z Book are: anteater, badger, cow, dromedary, elephant, flamingo, gecko, hedgehog, iguana, jackrabbit, kangaroo, leopard, mule, newt, oxen, porcupine, quail, rhinoceros, snail, tasmanian devil, umbrella bird, vulture, warthog, x-ray tetra, yak, zebra + one blank page.
