I have compiled approximately 30 ACT essay prompts from different sources (some I made up myself) and typed them into a mock ACT format, complete with the directions that the ACT gives. This helps relieve students' test anxiety so that they are familiar with the format of the actual test. They are in Word format so that you can manipulate them. They have my class heading at the top; you can easily type your own class heading to replace it. I make class sets of these so I am not wasting paper. I can then reuse them every period. I teach 11th grade English and school district is leaning toward ACT scores as an indication of college/workforce readiness. Our district is one of the pilot districts for a program where all 11th graders take an actual ACT during the school day, which results in a college reportable score.
