This is a twenty-two question pretest that students in middle school or high school complete on the first day of our health/science unit on HIV/AIDS. The pre-assessment is then used as a starting point in class for further studies of HIV/AIDS.
I believe it is very important to give a pre-assessment like this when teaching about HIV/AIDS as there remains a great deal of misinformation and it is important to know what students know (or think they know) ahead of time. Answers included.
