This page can be edited. The class name (Algebra) can be changed to fit whatever class you teach. The way that I use this is as follows: I make about 200 photocopies of this page and then bind them together at Kinko's and call it the "Absent Book". Each day I have one student in each class (I teach middle school) fill out the Absent Book. Then, the next day, before an absent student asks me what he or she missed, that student checks the absent book and gets any important announcements, class notes, handouts, upcoming events, and homework information. The handouts you must collect seperately (I have the Absent Book Notetaker collect any handouts for the absent students and place them in the designated Absent Bin in my room.) I developed this system when I was getting overwhelmed with students missing class for various reasons, illness, appointments, pull-outs, etc. This book has been quite helpful for me! Especially if there are a lot of notes to be taken, or if a student misses multiple days in a row. Then I just photocopy the pages from the Absent Book and give them to the student who was absent. Again, this document can be modified if you purchase it (it will open in Microsoft Word.)
