The Magic e Activity Pack contains 10 hands on activities to teach the Magic e rule. A 14 page teaching manual which provides step-by-step directions for each activity is included. Easy to follow directions for assembling your activities are provided. Your activity pack includes the following activities:
Teaching the Magic e Rule (Teaching): A teacher demonstration is provided and students then use their "Magic e wand" to make the vowel say its name
Flip the Magic e (Magic e Pairs): Students read words first without the Magic e and then "flips the e" to change the word
Magic e Memory (Magic e Pairs): Students play the game of Memory to match pairs (tub/tube)
Clip the Magic e (Magic e Pairs): When given two pictures (e.g. cap/cape), students choose the correct picture to "clip the e"
Magic e Card Game (Magic e Pairs): A fun card game in which students read words with and without the Magic e
Lotto (Reading Words): Students read words and match the words to the pictures on their Lotto board
Making Words With Magic e card game (Reading Words): Students attempt to make words with and without the Magic e by changing cards
Fishing For Magic e (Reading Words): Great game to incorporate into your literacy centers. Students catch Magic e fish using their fishing pole
Magic e Game Boards (Reading Words): Four game boards to use either in your literacy centers or during small group instruction
4 In A Row- Students attempt to get 4 of their colored chips in a row while reading Magic e words. Four 4-In-A-Row boards are included
Reading Words and Sentences- Flashcards with and without a visual cue and sentence strips containing words with the Magic e are included for added practice
The activities in this pack are hands-on activities. You will need to gather some materials: craft sticks, clothespins, dowel rod, button magnet, small washers, counting or bingo chips, game pawn, a die.

All activities align with First Grade Common Core State Standards 1.RFS.3c Know final -e and common vowel team conventions for representing long vowel sounds.
