This activity is meant to be completed during or after a study of animal adaptations.
This is a fun activity, enjoyed by students and parents. The students take a field trip to a local zoo and go on a scavenger hunt looking for specific animals. This requires a combination of logic and higher-order thinking skills. The students have clues to help them identify animals by their adaptations, and the students are then required to give additional examples of adaptation. I have used the activity with fifth graders, but it could be easily adapted to other grade levels. I also have the scavenger hunt set up with twelve animals from the Fort Worth Zoo, but again, this could be easily adapted to your local zoo.

Help
I have taught for eleven years in a variety of grade levels and socio-economic levels. I have enjoyed all grade levels that I have taught, and am enjoying my current work in Junior High! I have a B.S.I.S. from Midwestern State University and a Master's in Technology Integration from Nova Southeastern University. I have also worked as a Campus Technology Integration Facilitator, and have presented at local and regional conferences. I enjoy working with peers and students! They both provide new sets of challenges.
