This lesson follows my lesson on adding / subtracting 2 digit numbers using the number grid (no regrouping).

In this lesson, the students will review how to add/subtract on the grid and then learn to add the "ones" and the "tens" to solve 2 digit addition and subtraction problems (no regrouping). Infinite cloned base ten blocks are provided so you can provide a visual when teaching the skill.

The lesson includes a teacher's notes page, interactive pages, a website link for more modeling (addition only) and links to printable worksheets on both addition, subtraction and mixed problems. A customizable page is provided for both addition and subtraction so you can add MORE practice problems if needed.

The focus of this lesson is to learn another strategy for adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers (NO regrouping) beyond using the number grid.

Hi Lisa,

I love your lesson on teaching 2 digit addition and subtraction! I was wondering if there was anyway you could send me a new master page for practicing addition. On page 15 where I believe it should be the master page to make more for addition it says "first subtract the ones" then "subtract the tens". There are two master pages for subtraction but none for addition.

Hi There!! First, thanks so much for the kind words about the lesson! Secondly, THANK YOU for giving me a heads up about the typo. I just fixed it and reposted so if you go to "my purchases" it should be flashing. Download it again and it should be the "fixed" file. AGAIN, thanks so much for the heads up! You were the first to notice this little typo! :-)
Regards!
Lisa
