Adding and Subtracting 0,1, and 2: Math Fun with the Little Friendly Ghosts

So many ways to use these math cards with the sweet Little Friendly Ghosts from Mel at Graphics From the Pond!
* Match numerals to addition cards, using either 1-10 or 1-20
* Match numerals to subtraction cards, using either 1-10 or 1-20
* Place either addition or subtraction number model cards (1-10 or
1-20) around your classroom and have students find the cards & write the number model next to the numeral on their Read Around the Room recording sheet. Four recording sheets are included: addition (1-10 and 11-20) and subtraction (1-10 and 11-20).
* Use the number model cards for practice counting up and back on the numberline. A Little Friendly Ghost numberline is also included in this resource. Great idea for a document camera lesson, with each child also having his or her own numberline.
* Play Go Fish, with students drawing cards and matching sets of 3: numeral, addition number model and subtraction number model.
* Mix up either the addition model cards or the subtraction model cards. Have students order them by the answer as a math center activity. A recording sheet for one to ten is included.

I've been teaching for 26 years, with the majority of my experience being in first grade. I taught Reading Recovery for 5 years, and that experience has impacted every day of my teaching since! For the past 10 years, I've enjoyed teaching a first grade literacy intervention class. It has also been my privilege to present various workshops on literacy topics at the local, state, and national level. My goal is to ignite a passion for reading and writing in young learners.
