Help
Students place one number card at a time on a game board to form a 3 digit + 3 digit equation. Once a number card is placed on the game board, it cannot be moved. The student with the highest correct answer wins. Students review addition as they use logic and problem solve to find the highest answer.
Game boards include:

3 digits + 3 digits
4 digits + 4 digits
2 digits + 2 digits + 2 digits
3 digits + 3 digits + 3 digits
4 digits + 4 digits + 4 digits

Learning and fun in one place! Students can share this game with their friends and family outside of the classroom. I dare say many youngsters could give their parents a run for their money. I have featured this one on my blog this week. Thanks!

This is a terrific game! I love the strategy involved and the fact that the person with the highest total still has to solve it correctly in order to earn the win. Also the other players have an incentive to try and solve additional problems to see if there is an error.

Sounds like a fun game. Will have to try it out to see how it works in the classroom. Are there any adaptations that could be made to the game? Could it be used for subtraction in some way?

You may want to try my “Subtraction Game - 3 Game Boards.” It has similar directions to the Addition Game, but it will give your students extra practice with subtraction.

I received the Crystal Apple Award from N.B.C. News. The "Excellence in Teaching" Award was given to me by the Los Angeles Unified School District's Los Angeles Educational Partnership. My Math Team won the first place trophy four times in the Los Angeles Unified School District's Math Tournament. I am most proud of my after school Accelerated Reader Program in which Huntington Drive students have read thousands of books each year. In 2000, I became a National Board Certified Teacher and renewed my certification in 2009. I have been a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1982.
