Looking for an alternative to individual assessment of addition strategies?
These 3 assessments can be used to monitor a student's progress and thinking about addition. The first assessment covers +0; +1,+2,+3;doubles;doubles +1; and make ten. The second assessment covers all above and adds +9. The last assessment replaces the +0 with the use ten strategy.
Best of all, the coloring doesn't make this feel like a test!

I'm don't know what you mean by the "use 10 strategy"? Do you mean to make a 10 .. can you give an example please ? Thanks

On my strategies assessment, I use the words "Make Ten" and I am referring to combinations of 10( 9+1, 8+2, etc). Later in the year I teach Use 10 which is also called bridging through 10 when students think about 8 + 3 as 8 + 2 =10 so 8+3 =11. Hope that helps!
