This packet is a great addition to your Jungle unit! Your students explore the rain forest, the savannah, and river habitats. Beginning map skills are included as well as easy to follow directions for how to draw or cut from paper the animals that call these habitats home. Designed to be a supplement to your thematic Jungle unit, this booklet is written in an easy reader format. Students illustrate the book themselves by using basic drawing skills. Step by step directions for how to create the animals are included. Realistic picture cards are included to aid in instruction. The pages can be put into a learning center for all students to complete, be a teacher directed activity, or used as enrichment for students who finish their assigned work early and need something fun and educational to do! When children illustrate their own book, they take an active role in their learning adventure. They retain the knowledge longer because they become an active participant in their education! A blank lined sheet is included to aid in your differentiated instruction. Students can use the lined sheet to write their own words instead of the ones included in the book. Animals included are giraffe, crocodile, gorilla, pygmy hippo, zebra, lion, and elephant.

Are there instructions for just drawing or are the cut and paste directions in here also like some of your other units? Also, do you have one with spring type things: Butterfly, caterpillar, flowers, etc? I really like to use these and see how each one turns out differently.

There are no written directions for this particular packet. There ARE, however, picture cues that show children the steps to drawing the animals. African Jungle Animals was one of my first products, so it is presented a little differently than my other products. (This product has been revised since I gave this response. Please see the comments on the product page!) I am presently working on a spring themed product, but it is not yet ready. I like to try them in my classroom first before posting to work out any problems! I do have a free product centering around flowers.
