Ordering Fractions
Objectives:
Students will order fractions, find a number between two fractions, and explain why the methods they use work.
NCTM Standards:
Students judge the effects of such operations as multiplication and division on the magnitudes of quantities.
Students judge the meaning, utility, and reasonableness of the results of symbol manipulation.
California Content Standards:
(1.0) Students identify and use the arithmetic properties of subsets of integers and rational numbers.
(25.0) Students use properties of the number system to judge the validity of results, to justify each step of a procedure, and to prove or disprove statements.
