Alien Text Talk is a fun new take on daily oral language exercises. Instead of just proofreading and correcting punctuation, grammar, and spelling the student will be translating the sentence from "text speak" into a sentence using the proper writing conventions.
This Common Core Standard aligned activity is broken into 18 weeks (use for 1 full semester). This is the Semester 1 edition (Week 1-18). Each week there are 9-10 text sentences that the student will need to translate and correct.
This is a great activity to reinforce grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization skills for bellwork or homework in addition to class instruction. It helps students see the vast difference in text speak and be able to apply the proper writing conventions at appropriate times.
Each week can be copied off for the individual student or made into a projectible. Font is 16 point type for easy projectible reading.
An answer key and Common Core Standards Checklists for grades 5-12 are included.
