This is a fabulous voyage back in time to the Roman Empire, where students will learn roots from Caesar himself! Students have available to them a notetaking worksheet where they can follow along as the slides advance. So many teachable opportunities will present themselves as they learn 32 common roots (some, technically are prefixes/suffixes) from both Latin and Greek. (for its purpose, no distinction is made between the 3) Zeus himself will test students mastery through 6 test prep questions that range in increasing difficulty. Students will gain mastery and will be deemed worthy of the title, "Master Rootitian."
Follow up activity is also included, where students will write in missing root/definition, and cut and paste pictures with their proper root and meaning.

Can you tell me how this is used? For some reason my Power Point has the second slide with all of the speech bubbles overlapping and then the third slide doesn't have anything but blue. I tried to cut and paste to a new slide, but it won't allow it. Can you help me? I also have a question about the full color page that has the pic, meaning, root. Are these suppose to be cut and pasted as the children figure them out? I am not sure if it is my computer or the plan of action taken on the children's part of how they go about using it. Thanks so much! I have really enjoyed all other materials so far.

I was wondering about the answer to a trident. The power point show the answer to be three teeth which would be a literal meaning, but shouldn't the correct response be a spear... Thanks for clarifying

That's a great question. The question gives the students the "teeth" portion, and then adding the "tri" translation into the mix. Even though a trident is a 3 pronged spear, I wanted them to look past that answer and find the exact translation... 3 teeth. So often in testing there are 2 answers that seem suitable- one better than the other. Because the question doesn't ask what a trident is but rather, what is the translation of trident- 3 teeth would be the answer. It's one of those ultimate tough questions that gets a great discussion going around test questions. Hope this helps.
