These sorts are the perfect activity to help your students focus on number sense (place value and odd/even), vowel sounds, and parts of speech.

In the number sense sort, students will categorize 18 numbers by determining if they are odd, have a 9 in the tens place, or have a 4 in the ones place.

In the short vowel sort, 18 words are categorized by short a, short i, or short u.

In the noun, verb, adjective sort, 18 words are categorized by...well, enough said!

You can increase the rigor of each of these sorts by removing header cards and challenging your students to sort them without knowing the category. Then they tell how they sorted them and finally labeling the category.

Have fun (and leave me a comment!)

I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. Your product is complete and of high quality.

I have a couple suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Move your table of contents to page #2. You might also list several ways you use this product in your classroom on that page. I noticed you are using the footer to put the your name and date of creation on EVERY page, but also add the copyright symbol. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also, number your pages.

I would love to get your input on my freebie listed below.

I am now your 9th follower, and hope you will reciprocate at my store as well. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/SciPi/Products

I noticed your Bible verse, and thought you might like to read my latest posting on my blog. I ventured out to share why I celebrate Easter which might offend some, but Christ's resurrection is the foundation of my faith. I would like to know what you think about the article. http://gofigurewithscipi.blogspot.com/

Welcome to TPT, and good luck with selling!

Hi Scipi,
First of all, thank you so much for your sweet comments and helpful advice. I love that TpT has so many people involved that just want to help and support others. :)
I took a look at your freebie and was very impressed by your thorough instructions! Anyone could read them and know just how to conduct the lessons. I rated you and followed you...thanks for following me, too. :)
I loved your blog post about Easter. I love to share my faith with others as well. I feel that it is not only what I feel led to do but what I'm commanded to do by Christ himself!
Peace to you and Happy Easter!
Kathy

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Grades Taught:

I have taught First Grade for 15 years now (well...my first year was a 1st /2nd multi-age classroom) and I love it! Some years my class has been EIP self-contained, some years big, some years small, some years high, some years low, and some years just a big ol' jumble of everything.
