The Make, Take and Teach Alphabetic Principle Pack contains 12 hands on activities designed to teach sound-symbol correspondence. In addition to the activities, two sets of flashcards (keyword flashcards and letter flashcards) and a letter/sound assessment complete with a student tracking form is included. An 11 page teaching manual with step-by-step directions for each activity makes the using activities within the pack ideal for both teacher and para-professional led intervention groups. Easy to follow directions for assembling your activities are provided. The following activities are included:
Letter/Sound Assessment (Assessment)- Upper- and Lowercase letter cards along with a student recording form is provided. The form allows for 5 assessments which makes it ideal for monitoring student growth.
Multi-Sensory Cards (Direct teaching of Letter/Sound)- Multi-Sensory templates for each letter are provided along with specific directions for using the materials to teach the letter/sound.
Sand Tray (Direct teaching of Letter/Sound)- This multi-sensory activity is perfect for teaching letter/sound and letter formation. The sand tray can also be used to review previously learned letters/sounds.
Upper- to Lowercase Memory (Upper- to Lowercase Matching)- Students practice matching upper- to lowercase letters in this traditional game of Memory.
Beginning Sound Sorting (Beginning Sounds)- This activity contains 154 colorful pictures for a sorting activity.
Memory (Beginning Sound-Symbol)- Students match beginning sounds of pictures to letters.
Bingo (Beginning Sound-Symbol)- 3 Bingo cards along with letter cards are included. Playing Bingo is a great way to practice beginning sounds.
Clip The Letter (Beginning Sound and Ending Sound-Symbol)- Students "clip the letter" on a picture card with a missing letter.
Dominoes (Beginning Sound Symbol)- Fun game to practice beginning sound-symbol relationships.
ABC Turtle (Beginning Sound-Symbol)- Students choose letters and cover up the corresponding pictures on their card.
Tee It Up (Beginning and Ending Sound-Symbol)- Students choose the correct beginning or ending sound to match the picture. They then place their tee in the hole, turn over the card and checks their answer.
Word Change (Beginning Sound-Symbol)- Students move letter tiles to create words to match pictures.
Flashcards (Review and Practice)- Letter flashcards are provided for practice.
These are hands on activities so you will need to gather some materials: envelopes, baggies, cups, large craft sticks, small craft sticks, bingo chips, golf tees, plastic counting tiles, clothespins, craft sand, and a variety of multi-sensory materials such as Play-Doh, shaving cream, Bendaroos, etc.
The activities in this activity pack align with Kindergarten Common Core State Standard K.RFS.3a Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondence by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant
