Well the preview looks good, however we will not really how good the lessons are. I suppose that is left for the teacher to find out. I do think its very creative to combine history with the liturature of the time, that provides the students with a real feel for the era. Your class room rule is excellent, but the rigide mannor of the class procedure may drain all the enjoyment out of the students. What about those who are shy, are they expected to conquer thier fears or fail the class.
No one has ever failed my class because of shyness. Students who do not feel comfortable speaking during class are covered by the Reaction/Response feature in the notebook. There they can express themselves privately, but the idea of encouraging discussion and providing a nurturing environment leads to overcoming that depth of insecurity.
Sounds great, where do I register? I love the way you combine History and English/Reading.
What, no novels during the war eras? "Diary of Anne Frank" springs to mind for the WWII section. There are excellent autobiographical books written by soldiers that really bring these topics to life.
Your class rule is the best!
Thanks for sharing.
