This PowerPoint presentation uses graphic organizers to help students understand and decode analogies. Understanding and decoding analogies is a higher level thinking skill transferable to reading comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity. Using graphic organizers to decode the analogies provides the students with the tools to make the interconnections by linking new information with information they already know. Each analogy includes visual and animated illustrations to assist the students understanding. The graphic organizer leads the students to provide the rationale (relating factor) for the similarities between the word pairs.
