This Ancient Egypt Class Play/Assembly is one of a *set written by me (Sue Russell). I have also produced and directed it at my school. It covers all the areas of work the children will have done in class (the importance of the Nile, the farmer's year, hieroglyphics, mummification, the After Life, Gods, the Feather of Truth Ceremony) and the jokes spare no one - not even Tutankhamun! Ideal for Years/Grades 3 - 8, and parts for all abilities. This curriculum-based play is fun but informative - guaranteed to be enjoyed by children and adults alike! For additional seating plan, drop a line to sue@plays-r-ussell.com This play is typical of all my plays - "written by a teacher, for teachers" - easy to deliver, and fun to perform. Take out the stress from drama and enjoy!
*This set covers the whole of the UK Key Stage II History curriculum (Years 3-6) and I have tried to cover the US Social Studies curriculum for elementary (some Middle) schools too. In addition to these 'large cast, plays for performance' I have produced a set of Group Readers which are for groups of 6 children, written in sets of 5, complete with quizzes. These are a great in-classroom resource, for guided reading or 'mini performances'. I have written plays for other subjects such as science, geography, PSHCE (Citizenship Skills) and one-offs like Valentines and St. Patrick's Day. These can all be viewed on my website www.plays-r-ussell.com which has a complete listing of my material under UK and USA catalogs.

I taught in the U.K. for 15 years - temporary and permanent positions plus supply/substitute teaching. I taught all year groups at primary/elementary level and have done some substitute teaching since arriving in the USA. My degree was in History so I always particularly enjoyed teaching this subject, and creating class plays/assemblies around what I was teaching in the classroom - whether it be Ancient Egyptians or King Henry VIII and his Six Wives!
