Great way to have student centered learning. The students spend class time researching and becoming the expert to teach the rest of the class.
On  September 29, 2013Mark Aaron answered:
Thank you for your feedback. Most effective teaching and learning should be student centered, and this project fits the bill perfectly! I appreciate your recognition of that and wish you well with the projects!

This is a great activity that can be adapted to meet the needs of different students in every class. Higher achievers can perform more in depth research while less proficient can still be successful with their own project.

The basic idea was good, although for sixth grade this needed a lot more structure built in.
On  March 20, 2014Mark Aaron answered:
While I respect your viewpoint, I disagree with your rating. I'm not sure what more structure you are talking about, as there are specific guidelines, instructions, and ideas for presenting the final project included. When we build too much structure into a project like this, we kill opportunities for individual choice, decision-making, and creativity. So to say that "a lot more structure" is needed here isn't something I can agree with. And to give the lowest mark for creativity while saying more structure is needed does not make sense for me. Too much structure often can limit creativity, and and I consider this a very creative project for my students.

On  May 28, 2012Mark Aaron answered:
Thank you for your feedback. I just finished using this about a week ago and once again the kids outdid themselves with effort and quality. Part of that is because information is so much easier to find on the emperors online now, but also because it is a good project.

On  November 12, 2012,  Buyer asked:
I just purchased the Roman Emperor project package. The description says the package includes a list of emperors to use as well as a list of emperors NOT to use. I can't find the list of "bad" emperors anywhere in the text. It could be me and my failing eyesight after a couple of hours of research, but did that part get edited out? It was a selling point for me, so you might want to edit it from the description if it's no longer a part of the product.

On  November 12, 2012Mark Aaron answered:
Thanks for your purchase and your question. I will have to go back and look at the packet. I think if an emperor is not listed as one of the "good" or "appropriate" emperors for students to study, and I know there is such a list, you can assume he was one of the "baddies" and should be avoided. Nevertheless, I will adjust the description if there isn't a list of names for the bad ones. Other than that, I hope you are happy with the product.
