This 18 slide PowerPoint presents the basic information about Anglo-Saxon food and cooking and some related cultural notes.
I use this slideshow as an introduction to "Beowulf" and other Anglo-Saxon literature, but it would work just as well with the early medieval period. I often bring in some samples of Anglo Saxon food for the students to try as well: hearty bread and cheese, fruits they would have had, etc. You can also find a medieval gingerbread recipe online.
I have also presented this to the Family and Consumer Sciences classes as well.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
