Use this template for your students to write the final draft of their animal report. After you have taught all the important concepts about animals during your science class, students can write a report showing their knowledge and understanding of animals.There are a total of 10 information pages (as well as a cover page) that students use as a guide to organize their writing.
Pages include:
* animal group classification
* habitats
* life cycles
* food webs and chains
* adaptations
* a glossary page for students to write definitions of important vocabulary words used throughout the report.
There are sections on the template for students to include paragraphs giving details about each of the animal concepts and spaces for them to include charts, illustrations and labels.
In addition to the student pages, I have included an teacher page that explains how each page can be used.
Use this template as a tool for teaching students how to include different non-fiction features in their writing. It's a perfect companion to your animal writing unit!
Thanks! I actually just made some changes to it right after your downloaded it! Be sure to go to "My Purchases" and re-download it for the updated version! Thanks for the comment!

Rachael, I'm just wondering if you've included any rubrics in this package.
Hi there. There is not a rubric because the report can be used in a number of ways. It is basically a template that you can modify to fit your writing curriculum. Since there is not a specific writing task to to go with the report, it would be hard to make a rubric.
I have taught for 5 years in both 3rd and 4th grade in an urban district. I am certified in General Education grades 1-6. I received my masters in Childhood Literacy.
