This is a now 2,000 slide two part PowerPoint presentation with built-in quizzes, challenge question with answers, color coded red slide notes, video links, review games, two page homework, supplied notes, and answer keys, two page worksheet that follows slideshow for classwork, and animal / mammal poster project.
Areas of Focus within this PowerPoint: This PowerPoint begins describing characteristics of Animals: No cell walls, Period of Embryonic Development, Eat Food, Move, Nervous and Muscle Tissues, Diplontic Life Cycle, The PowerPoint then covers budding, fragmenation and parthenogenesis, The PowerPoint then describes with visuals the three types of animal symmetry. After seeing and learning these, students put their skills to the test in a 1-10 name that type of symmetry challenge that gets the students out of their seat and making shapes with each slide. Students then use a Petri-dish or compass to create a series of circles to record information about Animal Phylums that are presented one at a time. This creates a neat organized page with sketches of all of the Phylums for easy recall later, Teacher can create stations with various specimens (handouts can work) and have students carousel through the various Phylums. Common Phylums in the Animal Kingdom are then covered in detail. Arthropoda goes into detail and discusses some of the most common classes with notes that focus on certain aspects of arthropods and many challenge questions are asked. Chordata, Amphibia, and various Fish Phylums with built-in review questions. A 1-20 built-in quiz is provided. Each picture 1-20 shows and animal and students need to give the phylum and the class (arthropoda and chordata only). The answer are provided at the end.
Part II Mammals: Mammals are then focused on with mammalian characteristics presented in a step by step process. The three sub-classes of mammals described and some video links to the duck-billed platypus. An animal poster project is framed for a culminating project. This is a highly visual, challenging, and exciting PowerPoint that will be a great addition to any Biology Class.
