This is a 19 page workbook to accompany the story "Ant" by Rebecca Stefoff. Skills covered include: author's purpose, context clues, consonant clusters, digraphs, compound words, punctuation and quotation marks, summarizing, syllables, multiple meaning words, fact/opinion, parts of speech, synonyms/antonyms, true/false, singular and plural nouns, homophones, verb tense, contractions, analogies, vocabulary, pronouns, proper nouns, making connections, subject/predicate, reference materials, main idea of a page, possessives, picture clues, sentence combining, correct word order in sentences, drawing conclusions, alphabetical order, spelling, comparing/contrasting, matching skills, facts and supporting details, main idea/details, and cause and effect. This has been an invaluable tool in covering state standards and helping my students with comprehension and numerous language arts skills.
The page numbers referenced in this workbook correspond to the story in the Houghton Mifflin Anthology "Delights" from their California Reading program. If you are using another version of "Ant", this will still be useful to you, but you may have to modify a few things. If you like this product, check out my workbooks for other stories in the "Adventures" and "Delights" anthology books.
