One of the most commonly-referenced speeches, Antony's funeral diatribe is also one of the most alluded-to literary references of all time ("Friends, Romans, countrymen...") and a classic example of the art of persuasion. It is also a common memorization assignment within AP courses.
Included is a 10-page Microsoft Word document that includes everything you need to conduct this memorization assignment. It has the original handout with the speech (properly typed for accuracy down to every single comma)...divided with line numbers. It is pre-divided into digestable, 7-line paragraphs for memorization...with sample due dates. It also includes each of the quizzes for assessment leading up to the final test. Each quiz has a blank for each word to be filled-in...with punctuation provided to assist the students. It also has the rest of the speech included on the quiz so students may continue studying after completing the quiz (and to provide multiple copies of the text in case they lose their original.) Further, it includes the final test, which has the starting word on each line for assistance...AND the challenge-version final test for students who want to try for 10 additional points; the "challenge" is that the cue words are missing and replaced with blanks.
Memorization grows dendrites in the brain. Give your students the gift of thousands of dendrites with a highly-respected piece of literature they can reference on the AP exam!
