A comprehensive syllabus/course plan for AP English Literature & Composition composed in 2007 in accordance with the the new College Board AP Audit requirements.

(This syllabus has been approved and authorized by the College Board for my use; however, if you want to use it as your AP syllabus, you'd still have to submit it to the College Board audit for review for your own program).

Before you purchase this (or any) AP syllabus, be sure you have logged on to AP Central and read the comprehensive English Literature & Composition course description, as well as the audit information.

This syllabus is twelve detailed pages long, including Course Description, Texts to be used, Grading Policy, Quarter-by-Quarter Course Outline including classwork and homework for each day of the year, and explanation of Major Writing Assignments.

Texts include: Perrines Literature: Structure, Sound, and Sense (9th Edition), Elements of Literature: Sixth Course. Holt Rinehart & Winston (2000), and MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers: 6th Edition. MLA (2003).

Major readings include Death of a Salesman, The Awakening, The Importance of Being Earnest, Doctor Faustus, Lord of the Flies, Jane Eyre, Brave New World, and Hamlet. If these texts are not available to you, you could easily substitute an appropriate title in place of one or more.

This course plan is written for block scheduling (88 minute blocks) and is primarily arranged chronologically according to literary history.

You may also want to see the correlating AP Summer Assignment, Major Works Study Guide, and Literary Terms for Advanced Study list - also available on TeachersPayTeachers.

SAVE MONEY: This syllabus is also available as part of an AP BUNDLE with the above items plus an AP writing rubric.

What attracted me to this product was the description line that said classwork and homework listed for each day. However, I would have liked to read a list of book titles included in the syllabus in the advertisement. Now that I've opened the product, my school only has one of the texts listed. And there are a few texts in here that are non-fiction, something I'm going to need to stay away from in the AP Lit course as per College Board.

Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry your school does not have copies of many of the texts included on the syllabus. That's a shame. I have taken your suggestion and listed the major texts in the product description. Please note that you could substitute titles from your school book list for those on this syllabus.
