Teach area and perimeter with this engaging hands-on activity created by Terry Palmieri.
Students will use 1" graph paper, choose a section, and find the area and perimeter of it. Each child's work will be unique as he cuts out a shape from graph paper, then counts the 1" squares to find Area and counts the 1" units around the outside edges to find Perimeter. This same activity can be done over and over again with different results, ensuring children really understand the concept. It's SO much MORE than just a worksheet!
