This beaded bookmark I made was inspired by "Three Flags" by Jasper Johns.
I used white polymer clay and transferred an image of the famous painting onto it (a great way to recycle those product catalogs!). It is sealed and accented with beautiful lapis lazuli and Czech crystal beads in red and blue. The other end features three more lapis and crystal dangles with antique silver findings.
The two ends are connected by high-quality waxed linen cord. It measures 10" between the beads (this part will fit into the "crack" of the book--hence the nickname "book thong"--and will hold your place even when your 11-year-old son chucks it to you from across the room after you asked him to bring you your book). The overall length of the bookmark is 13".
This would make a unique gift for any art lover, fan of Jasper Johns, or anyone patriotic. Or buy it for yourself as a reward for all the hard work & long hours you put in day after day!

I've been teaching at my current public high school for twelve years, and have a total of 16 years experience. Most of my experience is teaching high school English and journalism classes; however, for several years I taught an art history class.
