PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the Articles of Confederation through this lesson plan. First they will learn to distinguish the difference between unitary governments, confederations, and federations and then identifying the strengths and weakness of the articles of Confederation. Students will then synthesize their own solutions to the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, anticipating lessons on the Constitutional Convention.

Grade Level: 10th-12th

Duration: : 45 minutes - 1 hour

Objectives: The student will be able to...
• List at least two strengths and at least 4 weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation
• Evaluate the relative importance of the Articles
• Synthesize solutions to the problems created by the Articles
• Define the following vocabulary words: unitary government, federation, confederation, Articles of Confederation
