My students work hard for their International Food Day. We have African Food Day, Asian Food Day, and finally Australian Food Day.
Each student must choose a recipe (or find their own recipe), cook it (or buy it) and bring it in for the class. If the student can't afford to do any of that they can sign up to be a helper. To make this less of a party you can have them present what they made to the class with a brief explanation. You can even turn it into a webquest!
