This packet includes over 50 pages of full color materials for five different literacy centers (a, e, i, o, u) each helping students practice identifying long and short vowel sounds. For each center, students will be given a group of sixteen words printed on fall-themed picture cards. Every center includes different clipart and sorting mats! Students will have two sorting mats (going along with each center theme e.g. a pumpkin patch, a cornfield, a basket etc.) one for the long vowel sound and one for the short vowel sound. Students will read each word and put it in the correct group. After sorting all the words, they will record them on an accompanying worksheet so teachers can assess their understanding. Blank picture cards are also included for EVERY CENTER so the center can be done again with new words for additional practice.
Centers included are:
1. Apple Pickin Vowels (Short and Long A)
2. Sort-A-Scarecrow (Short and Long I)
3. A Pile of Leaves (Short and Long E)
4. Acorns-A-Plenty (Short and Long O)
5. Pick a Pumpkin (Short and Long U)
Each center includes directions on how to prepare the materials, center directions, word cards, blank cards for additional practice, two sorting mats, corresponding worksheet, and answer key.
Celebrate the season with these fun centers! Be sure to check out my other autumn themed products for math, science and literacy!

I love the vowel activities. I was wondering if on the Pile of Leaves Sort if the mat were the correct ones. There are fall leaves and the mats have Daisies on them.
Hi there! The mats are the correct ones- I was thinking the daisies and the green background on those mats would be like grass or ground. Then the kiddos sort the leaves into piles on the "ground." Sorry if I threw you off with the bright daisies! :)
