"BUMP!" is a fun way for your students to practice the letters of the alphabet. It allows for repeated exposure to the letters you want your children to recognize automatically, but in an engaging and kinesthetic way that is sometimes lost in traditional flash-card practice.

DIRECTIONS:
This set includes lowercase letters. Instead of writing the letters on paper flash cards, this download presents them electronically, in a slide show. Randomly placed throughout the slides are the words BUMP, STOMP, CLAP, SNAP, and WIGGLE. Your students' attention will be focused on practicing the letters as they anticipate seeing the fun action words pop up. When they see an action word, they say the word and do the action. A picture clue has been included with each action word to help support emergent readers.

If you use computers during center time, you can load the slide show onto student computers to allow for independent or partner practice.

*This BUMP, and all other BUMPS, are uploaded as PDFs due to copyright requirements.

I just purchased BUMP! Let's learn letters and I thought it was a powerpoint document. Is it possible to get it in a powerpoint so that it can be played automatically as a slide show versus me manually having to hit the arrow button and being able to switch up the order of the slides? Thanks for your help.

Hi mtfgiggles,

Items submitted to TPT are supposed to be uploaded as PDFs. I originally created the document in Power Point, but then saved it as a PDF to comply with the expectations. (It's also to protect the copyright of the clipart designers.) I hope you're still able to use the item even though you have to use the arrow keys. I find that using the arrow keys helps me to control the speed without the slideshow running automatically. That way, I can slow down or speed up, if needed.

Thanks for your question,
Andrea

Hi JBiggs4,

The PowerPoints are uploaded as PDFs, per TPT's guidelines. It should open in Adobe and then you can advance from slide to slide by using your arrow keys on your keyboard.

Thanks,
Andrea :)

Hi wiiteacher2,

It's not necessary to import it into a Power Point document. The PDF will advance slides when you press the down arrow on your keyboard.

Thanks,
Andrea :)

It's basically flash-card practice with an active twist. Instead of practicing flash cards in a traditional way, I put the words in a PowerPoint document and randomly included "active words" such as BUMP, WIGGLE, SNAP, STOMP, and CLAP. The kids are more engaged and willing to practice their sight words (or letters or contractions) because they're eagerly waiting for the action words to pop up on the screen. When an action words pops up, the children do what's prompted. I included a picture clue for each action word to help young, emerging readers know what to do. My kids think it's fun because it's kinesthetic.
