Here's a fun, beginning of the school year, or anytime activity that will help students practice coordinate graphing, and ordered pairs. Students will plot points from a list of ordered pairs and then connect the dots to make "ScholarCat." The graph includes positive numbers only. A key is included to see what the end product should look like.
ScholarCat goes with a number of items used at back to school time, to introduce students to Sandra Kaplan's "Scholarly Pursuits."
The idea is that students benefit from being explicitly taught what a scholar does, what behaviors are necessary, etc. This is one of the fun offerings that goes with the powerpoint introduction, and the posters.
