This is a completed unit on Balancing Your Checkbook. This unit includes all instructions for students, which are self-explanatory, as well as worksheets and checkbook registers to record debits and credits.
As students work through the unit, they are asked to perform a variety of tasks including calculating interest on a savings account, recording debits and credits, and maintaining a running balance in their "mock" check register not only for themselves but a fictious roommate as well.
There are a total of 6 pages to this unit, and an optional requirement to create an electronic checkbook register using Excel. There are 12 questions throughout the unit for students to answer, for use in assessment and/or reflective thinking.

I have been teaching for 7 years, but got started late. I wanted to be a teacher since I was young but since my father was teacher, he strongly discouraged me. I still can't understand why. Aside from the political issues, I love my job. I also feel it is very important, and critical work.
