Students are given a table of authentic data to use in making a purchasing decision. They must build bar graphs and a double-bar graph to compare the data.
Students must analyze the data in relation to given purchasing criteria, and recommend a purchase.
Students can be asked to write one paragraph explaining why they chose their recommendation, and another paragraph explaining why the other choices were rejected.
Works well as a partner or group activity for 3rd-4th grade. 5th grade could work on it independently.
